Seniors Community Development Investment for Communities Experiencing Barriers to Care

The 10th Annual Update in Geriatrics education day planning committee wished to support communities experiencing barriers to senior care. In addition to planning and executing an informative evidence-based geriatric conference, the planning committee also sought to support communities in a concrete and tangible way by providing a one-time investment to improve the care of older adults.

The Six Nations Home and Community Care Program’s Adult Day Centre in Ohsweken, Ontario were the successful recipient of these funds. Funds are being used to support the salary of an additional Adult Day Centre staff member to support older adults with dementia who attend this program.
