Program Overview

We are pleased to announce the launch of our latest educational offering on the care of older adults!

Geriatric Foundations (formerly Geriatric Training Program) is a comprehensive e-learning program that equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to provide high-quality care to older adults. Geriatric Foundations offers you the opportunity to enhance your expertise in geriatrics and develop the confidence to provide exceptional care to older adults. With the flexibility of asynchronous learning, you can complete the program, at your own pace, making it easier to fit into your schedule.

What is included?

The 6-hour self-paced program is made up of twelve online modules. Each module includes pre-recorded video lectures, accompanying slide decks, and knowledge checks to ensure comprehension. The modules have been developed by physicians with the Division of Geriatric Medicine at McMaster University, as well as other nursing and allied health care professionals with expertise in specialized geriatric services. Geriatric Foundations has been reviewed and endorsed by McMaster University, ensuring that you are acquiring knowledge that meets the highest standards.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the foundations of assessment and management of common geriatric syndromes.
  • Describe the unique needs of older adults, including those with complex health problems.
  • Apply the principles of geriatric care to their work with older adults.
